Caterpillar is a steel kiddie roller coaster built by Italian manufacturer D.P.V. Rides currently located at Lightwater Valley in Ripon, Yorkshire, England, UK.
History
The ride opened in 2003 as the Caterpillar and was located on the spot of the former Batflyer. For the 2014 season, the ride was relocated within the park, rethemed and renamed Little Dipper. For the 2021 season, the ride was relocated and repainted in the park. In 2023, the ride was renamed back to Caterpillar.[1]
Design
The ride follows one of the most cloned layouts ever, the Big Apple / Wacky Worm figure-eight layout.
Trains
Single train with 6 cars. In each car, riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows, for a total of 24 riders per train.
